Redwell Lake Lodge park is in a really brilliant location, even if we do say that ourselves!Although it’s in the heart of the countryside, everything is in easy reach and you’ll find plenty to do without travelling too far. Half a mile away in one direction you’ll see a Welcome to Cumbria sign, and half a mile in the other direction you’ll see another saying Welcome to the Yorkshire Dales. The pretty village of Over Kellett is on our doorstep with a post office and general stores, and beyond that is direct access to the M6, making access to the park very easy. The Lancashire coastline and the beautiful Morecambe Bay are less than 7 miles away. For a range of larger shops and amenities Lancaster is 20 minutes away by car. In the area: There’s also a scuba diving centre nearby, so if that’s one of your hobbies Redwell Park would make a great regular base for you.
Kirkby Lonsdale. Occupying a charming easily accessible position on the Lancashire/Lake District/ Yorkshire Dales border, stands the historic market town of Kirkby Lonsdale. Ruskin wrote of the area that he knew of no other place in England and parts of Europe which displayed such natural beauty. “Ruskins View” can be seen from the churchyard of St. Mary’s Church, or you can take a stroll to Devils Bridge on the outskirts of the town. One legend has the bridge built by the Devil, and tells of an old lady who wished to cross the bridge to tend her cow on the other side of the river. The Devil demanded a payment in the form of the soul of the first person to cross the bridge. The old lady cleverly foiled his plan by sending her dog across first.
Close to Kirkby Lonsdale are the South Lakes of the Cumbrian National Park, the West Coast Estuaries, the limestone cliffs and caves of the Yorkshire Dales, the beautiful Forest of Bowland and the scenic Carlisle to Settle Railway.
